Medical-grade chemical peels are used to improve the appearance of the face, neck, décolleté or hands. Targeting deeper layers of the skin than our clinical facials, our chemical peel compound is applied to the skin in multiple passes, causing superficial exfoliation, and in some cases, peeling of the top few layers of skin cells. The new, regenerated skin that results is smoother and less wrinkled than the older skin surface, additionally lifting out surface pigmentation leaving your skin more even in color and texture while minimizing pores, leaving skin looking youthful and rejuvenated.
Chemical Peels are used to address the following:
- Acne scars
- Age Spots
- Crow’s Feet
- Aging skin
- Sun damaged skin
- Sagging skin
Chemical peels typically come in three depths: Light, Medium and Deep
All chemical peels come with some temporary side effects, but beautiful skin will eventually be revealed in that brief time. Depending on the strength of the peel, chemical peel recovery time can vary.
- Light chemical peel: Light chemical peels usually cause some redness, skin crusting, irritation, and stinging, but after repeat procedures, it is very likely that these side effects will diminish.
- Medium chemical peel: Medium chemical peels will cause similar side effects, and it is highly recommended that patients avoid any sun exposure for a couple of months to keep the new layer of skin protected.
- Deep chemical peel: Deep chemical peels require a longer recovery time. Patients are able to return to most normal activities and work two weeks after the procedure. At this time you will be able to wear makeup, as the skin should be healed enough.
Light peels are superficial peels and can be used for light exfoliation without further peeling or down time. Light peels can be used to treat mild skin discoloration and to smooth rough skin textures as well as refreshing the face, neck, décolleté or hands.
A series of light peels every few weeks is great for busy people because you can achieve significant improvement with minimal downtime. Light peels typically are weaker peels made from AHA or fruit acids, most commonly Glycolic Acid, Citric Acid or Lactic Acid, and enzymes.
Renuvity Med Spa has several custom compounded and medical-grade Light Peels good for all skin types.
Medium peels are used to penetrate the outer layer of skin to remove pigmentation and damage from the middle layers of skin cells. This can be used to treat age spots, fine lines and wrinkles, freckles, and moderate skin discoloration.
What makes a peel “medium” is the percentage of active ingredients. Medium strength peels use some of the same ingredients as light peels but in greater concentration. Since these peels are deeper, you can expect some redness or swelling. Your skin may crust and peel off over 1 to 2 weeks. Patients will need to treat the skin with soothing lotions and avoid the sun until healing is complete.
Chemical solutions are applied in passes to penetrate deeply into the middle layer of the skin. This treatment is used to treat moderate skin discoloration, age spots, sun damage, surface scarring, and dramatically improve skin texture and pore size. Patients will see a dramatic improvement in skin appearance.
Redness, swelling and peeling will occur for every patient treated with a Deep Peel. We do not perform any deep peels requiring anesthesia. Deep peels can do things that a facelift cannot. Skin quality and environmental damage will be dramatically improved and reduced. Patients will need to use soothing skincare products and avoid the sun until healing is complete, which may take.
